Back To | FSACCI Hosts Strategic DE&I Roundtable Ahead of Disability Indaba 2025

On 17 July 2025, the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI), in partnership with Innovative Entrepreneurs NPC and the British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa, hosted a DE&I roundtable at its Sandton offices. The session focused on disability inclusion in the workplace and formed part of the build-up to the upcoming Disability Indaba 2025.

The event brought together senior leaders across HR, CSR, DE&I, and B-BBEE portfolios for a targeted exchange on practical actions and organisational needs related to disability inclusion. It opened with a networking breakfast before participants engaged in a structured discussion under the theme Nothing About Us Without Us.

Key topics raised included the need for universal accessibility in both public transport and the design of private sector workspaces. Participants stressed that disability awareness must be embedded at all organisational levels, including in employee onboarding.

Discussions highlighted the importance of encouraging employees to disclose their disabilities without fear of discrimination. Companies were urged to understand the type of evidence required for such disclosures and to partner with organisations that support the identification and development of persons with disabilities across leadership levels.

Participants also discussed the potential of assistive technologies and AI tools in creating more inclusive workplaces. Proposals were made for practical awareness workshops and immersive experiences to be included at the upcoming Indaba.

Lastly, the roundtable underlined the role of enterprise development in supporting persons with disabilities to pursue entrepreneurship opportunities.

The session provided a valuable platform for business leaders to share input ahead of the Disability Indaba 2025 and consider next steps for meaningful inclusion.

FSACCI thanks its members who took part in the roundtable: Air France KLM, Limagrain, People Power Placement, The Skills Mine, and Veolia. Their contributions enriched the conversation and helped shape meaningful input ahead of the Disability Indaba 2025.
