FSACCI member Bombela Operating Company continues to invest in the growth of young people within its workforce and the communities it serves. During Youth Month, the company celebrated the contribution of its young employees while creating opportunities for learning, mentorship, and community engagement.
In a message shared by CEO Nthabiseng Kubheka, she reflected on a recent session with young employees from different divisions across the business. The discussion focused on their contributions, career aspirations, and the role they believe they can play in shaping the future of the organization, the transport industry, and South Africa.
The session encouraged open conversations and the sharing of ideas. Employees discussed ways to strengthen the organization while learning from one another's experiences. The exchange highlighted the importance of accountability, leadership, and continuous growth.
As part of its corporate social investment program, Bombela Operating Company also visited Ratang Bana, a child support project in Alexandra, during its winter drive. Employees engaged with primary and high school learners, sharing their personal and professional journeys. These conversations gave learners practical insights into career opportunities and the value of determination, resilience, and hard work.
The visit created opportunities for mentorship and meaningful connections beyond the donation of winter items. It reflected the company's commitment to supporting young people through guidance, encouragement, and positive role models.
Young people represent 26 percent of Bombela Operating Company's workforce. They work across technical and non-technical roles, including engineering, maintenance, administration, train operations, and customer services. Their contributions support the company's continued growth and long-term success.
Bombela Operating Company also recognizes the value of bringing together employees from different generations. By creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and mentorship, the company enables experienced professionals and young employees to learn from one another. This approach helps develop future leaders while strengthening the organisation for the years ahead.
