FSACCI Senior Council Advisor Ms. Angelika Yakovchuk, head of the Immigration Department at Schroeder Attorneys Inc., draws attention to the Department of Home Affairs’ latest publication. On 30 June 2026, the minister of home affairs issued temporary concessions to assist airline passengers and crew affected by flight restrictions to countries in the Middle East and Gulf region—including Iran, Iraq, Syria, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Oman—arising from the ongoing military conflict.

This measure represents a timely government response to support affected foreign nationals in South Africa and to reduce the administrative burden on both the Department and those individuals, says Angelika Yakovchuk.
