FSACCI member Sizanani marked its 10th Annual Talent Show with an original production titled GomTown!. Inspired by Sophiatown, the performance explored the experiences, dreams, and voices of young people from Alexandra through drama, dance, music, poetry, and storytelling.
The production was developed by the learners over several months with guidance from Sizanani Director Kimberly Mkhushulwa and volunteer alumni coaches. The project gave participants an opportunity to build confidence, develop teamwork, and share their personal stories through the performing arts.
The event celebrated the commitment and hard work of the learners, who delivered performances that reflected their creativity and growth. Volunteer alumni coaches also played an important role by mentoring the learners throughout the preparation process.
Parents, guardians, and mentors attended the event to support the young performers. Representatives from partner organizations also joined the celebration, including Lopang Rapodile from Kasada Capital Management, Solomon Sikhosana from Absa Corporate and Investment Banking, and Tshegofatso Manaka from Paymentology. Their presence highlighted the value of continued support for youth development initiatives.
Chipkins Puratos contributed to the event by sponsoring cakes and refreshments for the performers and guests, helping create an enjoyable experience for everyone who attended.
The program also featured surprise performances by Sizanani alumni Tania Ngindani, Shelton Mpala, and Omolemo Mokwana. Kimberly Mkhushulwa closed the celebrations with a special hip-hop performance that added to the energy of the afternoon.
The Sizanani Talent Show has become an important annual event that gives young people a platform to express themselves while developing skills that extend beyond the stage. Over the past decade, the initiative has encouraged creativity, mentorship, and personal development while strengthening the connection between learners, alumni, families, and partners.
FSACCI congratulates Sizanani on reaching this milestone and for its continued investment in programs that empower young people and create opportunities for future generations.
