Paris 2024: A Spectacular Closing to the Games

Paris concluded its remarkable 2024 Olympic Games with an awe-inspiring closing ceremony on Sunday night, marking the end of an event that captivated the world.

The ceremony, held at the Stade de France, blended futuristic themes, breathtaking performances, and a powerful message of unity.

The spectacle began with a mysterious golden traveller navigating a dystopian landscape, symbolizing the quest to preserve the Olympic spirit.

The audience was treated to mesmerizing performances, including acrobats descending from the stadium roof and a stunning rendition of "My Way" by French singer Yseult.

The highlight of the evening was Tom Cruise's dramatic appearance, flying from the stadium roof to whisk the Olympic flag away to Los Angeles, the next host city.

As the evening progressed, the French electro-pop band Phoenix and other artists energized the crowd, culminating in a joyous celebration of togetherness.

Paris 2024 was more than just a sporting event; it was a testament to the power of sport to unite and inspire. The closing ceremony encapsulated the Games' spirit, leaving a lasting legacy for the city and the world.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the French and South African athletes for these two weeks of emotion and sport. South Africa won 6 medals (1 gold) and France 64 medals, including 16 golds, surpassing its record medal haul since the Atlanta Games in 1996.
