FSACCI, Sciences Po Alumni & Ipsos unpack SA’s local election results and their impact on governance, services and business. 11 Nov, 18:00.

The French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI), together with Sciences Po Alumni in South Africa and Ipsos, is pleased to invite you to a conference on the results of South Africa’s local government elections and what they mean for the country’s political, economic and social landscape.

The evening will bring together political analysts, journalists, academics and business leaders for informed debate and cross-sector dialogue. An analysis of the election results will be followed by a panel discussion on what the outcomes reveal about voter priorities, shifting political allegiances and the future of local democracy.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Coalition governance in metropolitan municipalities
  • The delivery of essential public services
  • Political accountability
  • The relationship between local government and economic development
  • Local and global trends shaping South Africa’s political environment, and what they mean for businesses, investors, civil society and communities

Beyond interpreting the results, the conference aims to build a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing local government in South Africa. Participants will be able to engage directly with experts, exchange perspectives and network with Sciences Po alumni, partners and stakeholders from the political, academic, media and business communities.
