Member News | Le Cap Sportif Hosting a Social Run to the community

Le Cap Sportif is excited to organize a new edition of its “Social Run” on Saturday, 30 May 2026 at 08:45 am, starting from the Mouille Point Lighthouse in Cape Town. More than just a run, this event is designed to connect members of the French and South African communities through sport, wellbeing and social impact in a relaxed and, inclusive atmosphere along the Sea Point Promenade.
For this special edition, participants will have the opportunity to run alongside Sophie Bel, Consul of France in Cape Town, who will join the event and support the initiative.
To ensure accessibility for all fitness levels, two pace groups will be available:
• Walking/light jogging group (5–6 km/h)
• Running group (10 km/h)
The one-hour run will conclude with complimentary coffee at Caffe Neo, the event's partner, where participants can also safely leave their belongings during the run.
Beyond special events, Le Cap Sportif organizes weekly sports activities throughout Cape Town to encourage an active, social and healthy lifestyle within the French-speaking community. These include swimming sessions, running and circuit training classes, as well as inclusive community activities accessible to all levels. The association’s mission is to use sport as a tool to create connection, wellbeing and positive social impact.
Through events such as the Social Run, Le Cap Sportif aims to strengthen community ties while raising awareness and support for its social and inclusive sport projects developed in Cape Town's disadvantaged communities. The association works to make sport more accessible and uses physical activity as a tool for inclusion, wellbeing and community development.
