Sizanani Mentee Kamogelo Mokhanya Awarded France–South Africa Scholarship

Kamogelo Mokhanya, a mentee from the Sizanani Mentorship Programme, is one of 20 students selected for the France–South Africa Scholarship Programme. She will pursue a Master’s in Sustainable Corporate Management at IAE Nancy in France, supported by Campus France South Africa.

Mokhanya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Pretoria, specialising in Business Studies and English. She is committed to building inclusive and sustainable economic models, shaped by her background in Alexandra township and her work with youth in education and entrepreneurship.

“With the support of my mentor and Sizanani, I’m ready to take this next step toward building long-term solutions for community development,” says Mokhanya. “This opportunity allows me to deepen my knowledge and return better equipped to create programmes that empower young people in under-resourced communities.”

Her French, mentor, Sandrine Winderwolf, has  “always been impressed Kamo’s capacity to seize all opportunities to learn and  push herself, blended with a strong will to contribute in her community. On her arrival, in  September, I will welcome her in Nancy where I studied myself 30 years ago”.

The Sizanani Mentorship Programme, a partner of the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI), has supported learners from Alexandra for over 10 years. In 2023, the programme included 91 mentors, 43 of whom were French expatriates and VIEs, who supported 150 high school learners through guidance, motivation, and study support.

As part of its ongoing engagement with youth development, FSACCI and Sizanani hosted mock interview workshops in both 2024 and 2025.  These sessions helped prepare tertirary graduates (instead of learners) for real-world job interviews through practical simulations and professional feedbac. A third session is planned for later this year.

Mokhanya’s selection highlights the value of mentorship and international education in expanding opportunities for young South Africans. Her academic journey in France is a step toward her broader goal of driving inclusive development at home.
