Willie ShumbaSenior Customs Expert and Advisor on the AfCFTA, African Union Commission

Willie SHUMBA is a Senior Expert and Advisor on Customs and Trade Facilitation with the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, based in Accra, Ghana. Prior to joining the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, he was with the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana. He started his professional career as a Customs Officer in Zimbabwe and rose through the ranks up to Commissioner level with the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority.

Mr Shumba has wide experience in Customs, fiscal policy administration, trade policy matters and university teaching. He holds Masters’ degrees qualifications in Business Administration, International Trade Law and Diplomacy from universities in Zimbabwe, South Africa and the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Zimbabwe Institute of Management (FZIM).
