IMPORTANT | Department of Home Affairs Extends Visas Until September 30th 2021

Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, has approved the extension of certain visa categories to the end of September

Under the instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has extended the validity period of visas that have expired during the lockdown until September 30th 2021. The extension is applicable to those short-term temporary visas issued for a period of no longer than 90 days and longer-term temporary visas issued for 3 months to 3 years.

These include the: tourist visa; study visa, treaty visa, business visa, medical treatment visa, relatives’ visas, general work visa, critical skills work visa, retired person’s visa, and exchange visa. Holders of the aforementioned visas which expired during the State of National Disaster are invited by the DHA to ensure the renewal of their visas before September 30th 2021 at https://www.vfsglobal.com/dha/southafrica/.

This extension is applicable only to visa or permit holders who have not left South Africa since the country entered into the National State of Disaster in March 2020, and arrived between the period of December 2019 and March 14th 2021.

Please note that the extension IS NOT applicable to anyone who entered the country from March 15th 2021 and that the normal validity period of those allowed entry into the country from March 15th 2021 remains applicable.
