Understanding CBAM: Implications for South African Industry

The European Union Delegation to South Africa invites industry stakeholders to a special hybrid workshop on the Implications of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on South African Industry. This insightful session will take place on Thursday, 13 February 2025, from 09:00 – 11:30, and will be available online.

The workshop will foster direct exchanges between South African businesses and the Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) of the European Commission, which oversees CBAM implementation. Attendees will gain first-hand insights into CBAM’s evolving framework as it moves toward full implementation in 2026, its impact on trade, and what businesses need to know to prepare.

The session will include presentations from DG TAXUD representatives, insights from South African business leaders, and an engaging panel discussion. This is a key opportunity for businesses to stay ahead of regulatory changes and understand how CBAM will shape international trade.
