Call for Sponsorship: Support DUT’s Hydrogen and AI Boat Journey to Monaco
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) is proud to lead innovation in sustainable maritime technology with its SiyaH2amba Hydrogen Boat and SiyaHamba AI Boat. As South Africa’s pioneering entries into the prestigious Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (MEBC) 2025, these projects showcase cutting-edge advancements in hydrogen and AI-powered watercraft.
The MEBC, hosted under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco, is a global platform where institutions and industries collaborate to drive sustainable energy solutions in marine transport. DUT made history in 2024 as the first South African team to compete, finishing strong in the endurance race and earning praise for its innovative boat design.
For the 2025 competition, DUT is developing a hydrogen-powered vessel, combining fuel cell technology with AI navigation, setting new standards for clean energy propulsion. However, to ensure South Africa’s continued presence on this global stage, DUT seeks FSACCI members’ support in sponsoring the transport of these boats to Monaco.
