ENSAfrica: Are South African employees as excited about the COVID-19 vaccine as their employers are?

The question on many lips, globally, is whether an employer has the right to force an employee to receive the vaccine.

'The government’s recent announcement of its plan to roll-out the Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine nationwide has triggered many questions and concerns, highlighting a collision of seemingly conflicting rights and obligations in various spheres of life. Unlike in other jurisdictions, South Africa does not currently have a law governing the vaccine roll-out. Without any statutory obligation to make vaccination compulsory, the complex yet unavoidable question facing South African employers is whether or not to adopt a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy in the workplace.'
