GL Events' Acquisition of the Largest Exhibition Park in Africa!
Already present in South Africa since 2009, through its subsidiary GL events South Africa, GL events announces that it has acquired a 60% majority stake in Johannesburg Expo Centre 2002 Pty Ltd (JEC) in Nasrec.
This means the Group now manages the largest exhibition park in Africa: 42,000m2 of indoor surface area, on a site covering a total of 510,000m2. As such, the venue will host the biggest exhibitions and events in Africa, including the Rand Show, a key trade fair/event that will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in April 2019.
The Montgomery Group, an international trade fair organiser, remains a shareholder in Johannesburg Expo Centre 2002 Pty Ltd and will work alongside GL events to develop new events at the venue.
Reinforcing its position in South Africa will enable GL events to consolidate its business model, which is based on a strategy of fully-integrated event services, and increase its overall sales in the country by more than €15 million a year.
