Interwaste's Give2Green initiative

Our platinum member Interwaste (Pty) Ltd celebrated Women's Month by recognising and addressing one of the biggest issues facing women in South Africa, with a focus on promoting women's health, education and empowerment.

The Give2Green initiative, which still focuses on the recycling element, now offers consumers and businesses the option of either donating sanitary pads or wheelchairs to the ones that need it the most. The recyclable goods will now be used as a donation towards sanitary pads or wheelchairs. This action encourage the community to start collecting recycling for donation and contribute towards an important cause.

When young girls don't have access to sanitary products, it often results in absenteeism at school, which affects the kind of opportunities and progress they can make in life - essentially their ability to access spaces that will allow them to be more independent. By reducing the stress associated with this alone, Interwaste is enabling thousands of girls in South Africa to stay in school and is actively helping to give young girls in need a brighter future.
