South Africa extends visa concession until June 30, 2024

In response to the ongoing processing backlog for Waiver Applications, Visa Applications, and Appeal Applications, the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in South Africa has introduced temporary measures.

These measures are put in place for foreign nationals who have been legally admitted into South Africa.

Thulani Mavuso, Acting Director-General of Home Affairs, explains, "Visa holders awaiting the outcome of a waiver application should be allowed to exit and re-enter at the port of entry until June 30, 2024, without being declared undesirable."

He further notes, "Applicants who have applied for long-term visas, and the application is still pending as of November 30, 2023, will be granted a further temporary extension until June 30, 2024, of the current visa status. However, they are not allowed to engage in any activity other than what the visa conditions provide for."

The temporary extension aims to ease processing delays and offer relief to eligible applicants.
