Back To | FSACCI and Sizanani Host Mock Interview Workshop Empowering Alexandra's Youth

On October 22, 2024, the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI), in partnership with Sizanani Mentorship Programme, hosted a Mock Interview Workshop for 20 young individuals from Alexandra township, Johannesburg.

The initiative aimed to equip these future professionals with valuable interview skills, boosting their confidence and employability in a highly competitive job market.

The event was proudly sponsored by Bombela Operating Company via the RATP Foundation, a platinum member of FSACCI, whose commitment to supporting youth development aligns with the mission of the workshop.

FSACCI members played a pivotal role in coordinating the interviews. HR professionals from companies such as Bombela Operating Company, The HR Nephew, People Power Placements, Veolia, and Club Med, alongside Sizanani partners such as Medge Strategic Partnering and Puma Energy, volunteered their expertise to help these young talents.

The day began with each young participant engaging in one-on-one interviews with HR professionals.

These mock interviews lasted 20 minutes, followed by personalized feedback sessions designed to refine their communication skills and help them approach real-world job interviews with confidence.

The interviews were filmed, with coaches from Sizanani observing the sessions to provide further guidance in follow-up meetings.

The participants later gathered for a collective debriefing session, which allowed for shared insights and learning from each other’s experiences.

Sizanani’s Role and Objective

Sizanani, a mentorship program based in Alexandra, empowers unemployed young professionals by bridging the gap between education and employment.

With an emphasis on practical experience and skills development, Sizanani provides these young individuals with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the job market.

Through initiatives like mock interviews, the program helps participants build the confidence and skill set required to succeed in their careers.

The overarching message of the workshop was clear: with the right preparation and support, young talent can unlock their full potential.

FSACCI and its members remain committed to connecting youth with valuable resources, ensuring that every individual is allowed to succeed in the professional world.

The event concluded with a networking breakfast, where participants, sponsors, and professionals reflected on the day’s success and shared their hopes for future opportunities.
