On Friday the 9th of June 2023, the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a press conference where we had a mixture of South African and French media present, we hosted the SABC, the Sunday Times newspaper, News24, and Le Petit Journal 31.
After a light breakfast, discussions regarding the opportunities arising from the Rugby World Cup, for businesses in South Africa and France- were held.
The French Embassy, Business France South Africa & Southern Africa France, Rct - Rugby Club de Toulon (RCT) and Atout France, and our Chairman Dr Yves GUENON were there to answer questions from journalists, who attended.
Some of the main points came from Mr. Sébastien de Place, President of the Foreign Trade Advisors of France (CCE) in South Africa- who went into great detail describing the introduction and events they have planned- to get South Africa invested in some of the different sectors in France. With a lot of the potential investors using the upcoming Rugby World Cup, as an opportunity to go and physically see the prospective investments.
While Business France touched on their organisation’s plans to create links between businesses from the two countries. Once again highlighting the opportunities that would come from France hosting the Rugby World Cup, Business France plans on setting up ‘Business France Rugby Clubs' dedicated to SA entrepreneurs, where they’ll get to network with French industrial partners. These networking events are to take place in the nine host cities in France, on the days where the Springboks have a rugby match, in an effort to build momentum and camaraderie between companies from the two countries on the day.
