Art Has No Boundaries 'umsebenzi wendoda'

French Corner is proud to host,

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) in their presentation of Art Has No Boundaries. An art exhibition that features the work of local joburg artists , Sizwe Khoza and Lindo Zwane. Their work featured in the exhibition is entitled: Umsembenzi Wendoda (the work/duty of a man) and is taken from the phrase 'Umsebenziwendoda ungo wami, sengakhula' ('the duties of a man is now mine, I’m old enough').

The exhibition sees the two artists pay tribute to their mothers for their sacrifices in raising them in single-headed households whereby responsibilities were placed solely on the shoulders of their mothers.

These relevant and socially imbedded issues are explored through these vivid artworks and provide the perfect backdrop for this charity fundraiser. The MSF selflessly and compassionately helps improve access to and the healthcare of citizens around the world. Most pertinently, women and children form most of MSF’s 10 million patients treated.

This event promises great art, a great cause and great food and drink. The support of Tavaxier, the French Corner, Flowstone gin distillery and the Blackhorse Craft Brewery make this event possible.

All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the work of Médecins Sans Frontières who treat nearly 10 million patients every year across the world.
