Back To | FSACCI Webinar on Cyber Risks of Smart Working
In Partnership with Mazars
On Tuesday 7th of April 2020, FSACCI held its third webinar on the Cyber Risks of Smart Working, in partnership with the Italian-South African Chamber of Trade and Industries, Belgian Chamber of Commerce for Southern Africa, Holland Business Chamber Southern Africa, Nordic South African Business Association, SwissCham Southern Africa, & Spanish Chamber of Commerce in South Africa.
Terence Govender, National Director of IT Advisory at Mazars South Africa, & Keeran Madhav, Director of Forensics at Mazars South Africa, unpacked the increased risks of cyber crimes following the national lockdown which resulted in unprecedented amounts of “work from home” situations.
Mazars' expert warned that very few organisations have catered or prepared for this type of scenario in their Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and that home computers are rarely protected with Anti-virus or personal firewall softwares, making their employees more vulnerable to cyber crimes and hacks.
Although cyber crime does not discriminate, Mazars' experts emphasised that
> Home working users
> SMMEs
> Health/Medical Industries
Are particularly targeted and at risk.
Mazars consequently provided a checklist and list of Do's & Don'ts for both employers and employees to follow.
