Pullman Cape Town Celebrates First Anniversary with Month-Long Festivities

Milestone marked by a series of events showcasing the brand's commitment to blending work and play

Pullman Cape Town, which debuted as the very first Pullman-branded hotel in South Africa in September 2023, is commemorating its highly successful first year with a month-long celebration.

In just 12 months, the hotel has established itself as a leading player in Cape Town's hospitality sector, maintaining impressive occupancy rates and earning acclaim for its fresh “blended” approach to accommodation – unique in its integration of work and leisure, a way of life that strongly resonates with today’s travellers who are increasingly blending work and play and focusing on bleisure.

Located in Cape Town's prestigious Triangle House in Riebeek St – an architecturally acclaimed skyscraper – Pullman Cape Town offers premium accommodation within a 10-minute walk of the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Its prime location, close to the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, art galleries, museums, and numerous tourist attractions, has made it popular with both leisure and corporate clients, including multi-generational travellers who value convenience.

As part of the renowned Accor Group, which represents over 6,000 hotels globally and over 50 global hotel brands, Pullman Cape Town represents one of the group's premium brand ranges. This positions the hotel within a vast network of international hospitality excellence, offering guests the benefits of a globally recognised brand with locally tailored experiences.

“While Pullman Cape Town marks its first year, the Pullman name has been synonymous with travel for over 150 years. Born from the luxury train cars of the 1860s, Pullman has grown into a global hotel brand that understands the needs of today's travellers,” added Williams.

The hotel has made its mark in several areas, said Williams:

1. In-house floral artistry: The hotel's talented in-house Floral Artist uses fresh, locally sourced and indigenous flora in displays that brighten spaces and uplift guests' spirits. The arrangements are a signature element of the Pullman Cape Town experience.

2. Food and beverages that break the mould: Pullman Cape Town has gone beyond the stereotypes of typical hotel dining, and introduced not only guests, but locals to a diverse offering of four unique venues which open their doors to walk-ins as well as those sleeping over:

  • Sea Street Lounge has a cultural, vibey atmosphere enhanced with cosmopolitan interiors and striking local art, Illy coffee, and a new tequila selection launching on 5 September, featuring 21 premium varieties.
  • Ghibli Bar, located on the rooftop, provides cocktails and a gastro-pub menu with stunning CBD city views and an outdoor pool.
  • Stratus Room blends global and Cape Malay flavours in a warm but sleek space that appeals to both families and corporate diners.
  • The Piano Lounge offers whisky, tapas, and live music. Notably, 60% of their wine list comes from female winemakers from boutique wineries in the Western Cape.

3. Perk-packed, smooth meeting and event planning: The introduction of the ALL-Meeting Planner programme offers tailored event solutions for various occasions – and rewards event planners with exclusive perks. With seven versatile MEET/PLAY spaces accommodating up to 110 people, state-of-the-art A/V equipment, and dedicated support services, the hotel provides a seamless and rewarding experience.

Additionally, Pullman Cape Town City Centre has achieved high customer satisfaction ratings and contributed to the success of Accor's ALL – Accor Live Limitless loyalty programme, offering guests unique experiences and rewards.

Looking ahead, Pullman Cape is preparing for a busy summer season, added Williams. "Cape Town's accessibility is only improving through increased international flights and record cruise ship arrivals. We are rising to meet this growth, collaborating with the cruise sector to enhance guest experiences and welcoming niche tourism sectors, including film and production industry clients who want a premium full-service stay. And we remain dedicated to growth that is sustainable and responsible, maintaining our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance principles, including eliminating single-use plastics.

Entering our second year, we continue blending global standards with South African hospitality excellence, offering inspired stays that showcase Cape Town's warmth, diversity, and beauty. Our locally inspired cuisine and world-class amenities aim to provide unforgettable “blended” experiences that boast the best of leisure and business travel, supporting sustainable tourism growth that benefits our community."
