Back To | Ladurée Official Launched in Cape Town

On 24 February, Ladurée South Africa in partnership with the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry proudly co-hosted the official launch of Ladurée South Africa at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
An emblem of French refinement and savoir-faire, Ladurée’s arrival in South Africa marks a significant step in the brand’s international growth. Its presence within the local retail and hospitality landscape reflects the sustained demand for heritage brands rooted in craftsmanship, culture, and elevated experience.
As a valued member of the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI), Ladurée’s expansion underscores the strength of Franco–South African commercial ties and the Chamber’s role in supporting its members as they enter and scale within the market.
The evening brought together business leaders, diplomatic representatives and key stakeholders in celebration of this milestone. Proceedings opened with guest arrivals and welcome refreshments, followed by formal remarks from the Chief Executive Officer of Ladurée South Africa [Khethang Malefane], the global Chief Executive Officer of Ladurée [Mélanie Carron ], the French Ambassador to South Africa [David Martinon], the Consul General of France in Cape Town [Sophie Bel] and the Vice President of FSACCI [Philip Geromont]. A ceremonial ribbon cutting marked the official opening of the tearoom, after which guests were invited to experience a curated tasting that reflected the brand’s heritage and precision.
Through initiatives of this calibre, FSACCI continues to create platforms that foster visibility, deepen bilateral relationships and drive sustained commercial momentum for its members operating in South Africa.
