Back To | Shipping and Logistics – Overcoming Challenges in South Africa
On 22 August 2024, the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI) hosted a dynamic event in Cape Town in collaboration with the Belgian Chamber of Commerce in South Africa, focusing on the critical issues surrounding import, export, and logistics in South Africa.
The event provided an opportunity for industry leaders, professionals, and stakeholders to come together, discuss challenges, and explore innovative solutions in this vital sector.
Throughout the event, several pressing topics were covered by a panel of industry experts, including the current challenges facing South African shipping and logistics, strategies to overcome logistical hurdles in import and export, and opportunities for businesses to collaborate to enhance logistics efficiency.
One of the key takeaways from the discussions was the need for a more integrated and efficient logistics ecosystem in South Africa. This was highlighted as crucial for supporting the country’s economic growth and competitiveness on the global stage.
Experts also explored the impact of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) on South African logistics, discussing the vast opportunities it presents for expanding trade across the continent and the logistical adjustments required to fully leverage this agreement.
We would like to thank our panellists Mervin Kamoetie, Southern Africa District Director at Bureau Veritas, Louise Wiggett, Chief Executive Officer at Global Trade Solution - a strategic partner for AGL - as well as Shavan Naidoo our moderator, Clifford Evans, Liz Weideman and Terry Gale.
Overall, the event was a success, offering valuable insights and networking opportunities for all attendees.
