Driving change for safer roads: How EnviroServ is raising the bar in fleet safety
Road traffic collisions remain one of the world’s most pressing safety concerns. Research shows that 70–90% of all collisions are linked to human factors, and for people aged 5 to 29, a road traffic collision is the most likely cause of death. Faced with these sobering statistics, EnviroServ has chosen to act decisively, not only to safeguard our own fleet, but to contribute to a safer road environment for all.
Turning Commitment into Action:
Over the past year, we have collaborated with leading road safety experts to explore how emerging technology can help protect our drivers and the communities we serve. This work led to a strategic partnership with Optix, implementing advanced driver safety and coaching systems powered by machine vision (MV) and artificial intelligence (AI).
These systems leverage real-time data and predictive analytics to:
- Detect risks early,
- Support safer driving behaviours,
- Improve fleet efficiency and sustainability, and
- Addressing One of the World’s Most Complex Professions
Waste collection is recognised as one of the most challenging and complex professions globally. We believe it should also be one of the safest. Our technology provides instant alerts to drivers, enabling them to self-correct in the moment and address behaviours such as fatigue, distraction, speeding, seat belt non-use, and mobile phone handling. This proactive approach reduces risk, prevents collisions, and fosters long-term behavioural change.
Beyond Safety: Compliance, Performance, and Sustainability:
The benefits of this technology go beyond immediate safety improvements. It also:
- Supports compliance with industry standards,
- Enhances driver performance through personalised coaching, and
- Identifies operational inefficiencies, reducing costs while maintaining service quality
