Furniture as a living form of art

In this season, the high-end furniture sector is increasingly defined by the intersection of design, art, and functionality. Clients are no longer selecting pieces purely for utility but instead, there is a marked shift toward statement furniture that serves as a form of artistic expression. This evolution reflects a broader demand for interiors that communicate identity, while balancing innovation, craftsmanship, and longevity. Roche Bobois’ latest collection illustrates how sustained collaborations with some of the world’s most visionary designers translate these dynamics into distinctive, design-led propositions.
A key market trend is the elevation of outdoor living into a curated, design-forward environment, where outdoor spaces host statement pieces in their own right. Philippe Bouix presents a true invitation to unwind, the Formentera model reimagines outdoor living. Dressed in iconic Missoni patterns, with backrests designed to be removed and reconfigured as part of an at home design experience, it transforms the terrace into a display of sunlit or aquatic colours, elevating furniture into a form of living art.
Marking a decade of collaboration, Stephen Burks’ Catalina dining table further reflects this direction, combining architectural lines with an innovative material that meets growing expectations around durability and aesthetic performance.
In response to evolving client expectations, Roche Bobois has adopted an integrated, client-centric approach that combines expert design guidance with highly customisable furniture to support individual expression. This is complemented by digital tools available in-store and at home, reflecting a broader industry shift toward hybrid design journeys that enable more interactive and informed space creation.
