Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town

Did you know?

The Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital is South Africa's only dedicated child health institution and offers a comprehensive range of specialist paediatric services to children. It is a centre of excellence for the training of all categories of child health professionals.

Today's focus is Linda-Anne O’Flaherty. Linda is a volunteer Aromatherapist at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, and was recently in France to receive the 2021 Gatefosse Foundation Award for the work she does in the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. The work she does with the children is truly remarkable!

Every year about 1 300 children are hospitalized at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. Most of these children are under 3 years of age, often with severe burns or other serious medical conditions. Linda-Anne O'Flaherty has successfully used Aromatherapy for children in the ICU, the burns ward, oncology, as well as all the other wards in the hospital since 2004.

Linda-Anne was the 2021 recipient of the Rene-Maurice Gattefossé International Award and is regularly invited as a speaker at international conferences, where she presents the work done at the hospital.

Please contact Linda-Anne on +27 836004604 or at 24lindaanne(@)gmail.com should you wish to sponsor the aromatherapy programme at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
