CFAO South Africa Takes Action for Safer Schools
Every day, thousands of children in South Africa walk to school along busy, unmarked roads. For CFAO South Africa, a company rooted in mobility, this challenge speaks directly to our responsibility. Road safety is not only a social priority—it’s at the heart of who we are.
That’s why, together with TotalEnergies and the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), we proudly support the VIA Programme: Safe Mobility for All Young People.
VIA stands for Vouloir – Innover – Agir (“Want – Innovate – Act”), reflecting its philosophy: inspiring young people to want safer school routes, encouraging them to innovate practical solutions, and empowering them to act and lead real change. In simple terms, VIA is about giving learners the confidence to observe, innovate, and take action to improve safety in mobility.
Grounded in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, VIA teaches learners to identify risks, propose solutions, and lead actions that make school routes safer. Since June 2025, eight schools across Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and KwaZulu-Natal have taken part—from safety walks during UN Global Road Safety Week to regional competitions, national finals in Pretoria, and the International Finals, where AA Khumalo Primary School (Mbombela) represented South Africa among six global competitors.
