IFAS - Création Africa: Empowering and Scaling Cultural Entrepreneurship

The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of France and the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) have launched the second edition of Création Africa, an intensive mentorship programme which aims to boost and support cultural entrepreneurship in South Africa, Lesotho, and Malawi.

Over 340 applications were received from these 3 countries, from businesses across the Cultural and Creative Industries such as fashion, digital media, film, animation, gaming, and visual arts. Fifty entrepreneurs will be selected by an external jury to take part in a seven-week intensive mentorship programme starting in February.

From the Top 50 a Top 15 will be selected through a pitch session to investors and a jury panel, which will be followed by an eight-month incubation phase. This phase aims to equip them with tools, guidance, financial support, and expertise necessary to refine their business models and secure investment towards their businesses.

The Embassy and IFAS partnered with a renowned startups incubator, UVU Africa, to implement and oversee the mentoring phase and incubation programme.

IFAS is a member of the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI).
